WHAT DOES IT TAKE?

Our Coaches are a professional group, they bring a variety of unique skills and life experiences to their leadership roles at Sportball. Above all else, it is their passion to make a difference in the life of a child that truly defines them. Our thorough certification process places Coaches on a continuous learning track. After completing our mentorship program, Coaches continue to participate in specialty workshops, skill updates and evaluations throughout the year. Our Coaches are our brand. It is through their professionalism and commitment to Sportball that our culture and programs continue to thrive.

MORE THAN A JOB

We feel passionately that every kid deserves the chance to play, laugh and develop a life-long love of movement and sport.

COACHING WITH PURPOSE

Every skill, game, activity and instruction ties directly to our Methodology and has a purpose and expected outcome.

SAFETY FIRST

As a condition of employment, all Coaches have First Aid/CPR certification and have completed a Vulnerable Sector/Police Clearance check. These certifications are tracked and renewal is mandatory.

OUR CERTIFICATION SYSTEM

Our Coaches progress through several levels of professional development, which are signified by the color of their lanyards worn during classes:

NEW COACH

Black Lanyard. Coaches at this level learn to lead traditional Sportball programs with the support of a Mentor Coach, leading warm-ups and performing secondary demonstrations. They are also required to complete introductory workshops in Sportball methodology, policies and procedures and program delivery.

LEADER COACH

Red Lanyard. Coaches at this level lead programs on their own or with a new Coach. They are adept at coaching all stages of Multi-sport programming, and have a sound understanding of our Methodology policies and procedures and program delivery. They are also required to complete focused workshops regarding classes, camps and events.

MENTOR COACH

Blue Lanyard. Coaches at this level have a firm grasp of the first two levels of coaching and are able to communicate that knowledge to a new Sportball Coach and/or a Sportball Lead Coach. Greater responsibility and initiative
is expected in all areas of coaching, including program delivery, communication with administration, marketing and training. Workshops
for this level are designed to support a Coach’s growth as a mentor and teacher.

MASTER COACH

Yellow Lanyard. Coaches at this level have mastered our Methodology and specialized programming. Master Coaches model leadership and professionalism in all aspects of their practice. They are trusted to run Sportball demonstrations for prospective community partners and lead training workshops.
