A tax credit is available from the Government of Canada to cover eligible fees up to $500 per year, for programs which promote physical activity and fitness in children. Sportball programs meet the criteria for the tax credit, provided that children are registered for programs of 8 weeks or longer. Sportball camps meet the criteria for the tax credit provided that children are registered for a minimum of 5 consecutive days.
Sportball programs for children with disabilities are eligible for the Children’s Fitness Tax Credit. If a child qualifies for the Disability Tax Credit, an additional amount of $500 may be added to the eligible fitness expenses actually incurred, subject to a minimum expenditure of $100 on eligible programs.

Sportball receipts provided through the online registration process may be used for tax purposes. For registrations received by fax or mail, the confirmation email provides a link to a receipt. Parents of children in Sportball programs registered directly through a community centre or school need to contact that organization to obtain a receipt.
